Silence is Golden

silenceisgolden.jpg
The essence behind Silence is Golden’s design philosophy is: silence meaning subtlety and calm, golden meaning treasured and charming. Rather than being lurid and loud, the designer has chosen to exert restraint, but remain distinctive. Designer, Kelvin Tam , studied Architecture at the University of New South Wales, and you can see architecture shape with touches of unexpected modernism touches in all his collection. Silence is golden whe you’ re listening to awesome music   or  looking at beautiful place or  stuff … so this name is perfect for a grand label like this.

Brian Ewing 4 Vans Warped Tour

brianewing_warped.jpg
Do you remember the guy that was behind the fabulous t-shirts from Atticus that came out a few months ago? We are talking about Brian Ewings, of course, and this time because he has been commissioned by Kia Motors to design their official Vans Warped Tour ‘08 poster. It is the 5th year in a row that he is involved with the festival and we are glad about that, ’cause we really appreciate his work and we want to see more and more of it!

Murakami
The new Takashi Murakami+Louis Vuitton collaborative collection was first launched on June 1st at the Brooklyn Museum exclusively for the Murakami Exhibition. It’s a huge collection made of bags, scarfs, leather goods, shoes and much more that combines the famous Louis Vuitton monogram and the Murakami camouflage. I checked Ebay and I found many collection’s items so, if you are ready to spend 400$ for a leather belt, go there and bid!

Interview with L.A. Fashion Designer Jessica Louise

jessicalouise.jpg
Jessica Louise clothes are young, colorful and stylish and we adore her here at Set Your Style.
She grew up and lived in the Bay Area her entire life up until the age of 25 which is when she moved to Los Angeles.
Her custom clothing designs, much like the artist herself, are equal parts punk rock power and fairy-tale girliness. As a product of ann artistic family, with a clothing designer for a godmother, the creative life came naturally to her. Basic formal training in the arts, and her years of experience working for style icon Betsey Johnson, gave Jessica Louise a solid foundation from which to take on the fashion industry, but her thriving apparel business has been built largely through hard work and hands on experience. She draws energy and inspiration from her close network of friends who are creators themselves - artists, musicians, jewelry designers, and the like. The business side of the business is run by Sean Starkey, her amazing husband, while she deals with everything creative. Actually, she do cut and sew many things herself. Chances are nine times out of ten if you are ordering something from her online she made it just for you. But her custom creations are especially coveted by a clientele of high-profile celebrities, including many in the music world who seek her out to create special designs for their performances and world tour.

Custom Kicks

customkicks13.jpg
Custom Kicks is a beautiful, inspiring book. It is not about kicks, which could be very inspiring and funny in a way.
It’s about artists and sneakers: Kim Smits and Matthijs Maat from Maki invited 150 artists to customize sneakers and the result is this amazing publication. Don’t miss it! Avaliable here and from Amazon.

Baum und Pferdgarten

baumundpferdgarten.jpg
The creative manifest of Baum und Pferdgarten is to differ from the masses both in design and in process. The collections from Baum und Pferdgarten give women an opportunity to express themselves individually by offering a combination of a classic styles and avant-garde pieces which can be mixed accordingly to the individual taste or occasion. The designer duo, Rikke Baumgarten and Helle Hestehave,  like to approach their designs with a touch of irony and humour - and hence their signature is somewhere in between harmony and quirky playfulness. Above my favourite from their current collection. The mixes burnt sienna , purple, lilac and the silver skirt with a classic shirt are really cool.
