Interview with L.A. Fashion Designer Jessica Louise

jessicalouise.jpg
Jessica Louise clothes are young, colorful and stylish and we adore her here at Set Your Style.
She grew up and lived in the Bay Area her entire life up until the age of 25 which is when she moved to Los Angeles.
Her custom clothing designs, much like the artist herself, are equal parts punk rock power and fairy-tale girliness. As a product of ann artistic family, with a clothing designer for a godmother, the creative life came naturally to her. Basic formal training in the arts, and her years of experience working for style icon Betsey Johnson, gave Jessica Louise a solid foundation from which to take on the fashion industry, but her thriving apparel business has been built largely through hard work and hands on experience. She draws energy and inspiration from her close network of friends who are creators themselves - artists, musicians, jewelry designers, and the like. The business side of the business is run by Sean Starkey, her amazing husband, while she deals with everything creative. Actually, she do cut and sew many things herself. Chances are nine times out of ten if you are ordering something from her online she made it just for you. But her custom creations are especially coveted by a clientele of high-profile celebrities, including many in the music world who seek her out to create special designs for their performances and world tour.

Interview with Maleficent Martini

simo_latex.jpg
Maleficent Martini is a very intriguing character and restricting her to one of her different roles would be a waste. She used to be a professional ballet dancer until the age of 20. Professionally trained at the “TEATRO DELL’OPERA DI ROMA” and at “THE ROYAL BALLET SCHOOL” in London she has been dancing till 2001 and then decided to change her career completely. Now she is the front woman in Maleficent band, which was formed two years ago by her and Mortimer Cain. The band shows mix Maleficent Martini/Mortimer Cain Art Performances, gore scenarios, ballet dancing and Industrial Metal. The music ranges from upbeat synth driven industrial to progressive metal, going through sleazy R’n’R and dirty soundscapes, with antagonizing double vocals, creating a very unique contraposition between beautiful and evil, or mainly just evil.
But Maleficent Martini is not just the beautiful lead vocalist doll. She performs with “TORTURE GARDEN” and other fetish clubs all over europe; she dances and acts for “THE TEXAS CHAINSAW TRAVELLING HORROR PICTURE SHOW” and also for the “UNFASHIONSHOW”, and she has been in several music videos. In her spare time she does some modelling cause she says “it’s just too much fun!”. She will be in SAMPPA VONCYBORG 1st long movie!
I believe that by now you just want to hear what she told us in her interview and to see more of her captivating pics…

Gas Chamber - Lobe Stretching Specialists

piercings1.jpg
A few days ago I came across Gas Chamber Store and I was very happy to find some very nice jewellery for my stretched earlobes. Indeed, they have a nice selection of Tunnels, Plugs and Screw Threads with plenty of choice of colours and materials. I love all the Acrylic ones, while the Opal Plug is one of my favourite among the natural stones.

What is special about them is that they aim to deliver great piercing jewellery for fair prices, and we really fancy their approach! Plus, they sponsor music events and attend UK gigs: check out their myspace to be updated about upcoming shows.
